It all starts in 1968, when Johanna and Josef Wipperfeld made their dream of a feel-good and pampering hotel in the midst of idyllic landscapes come true.
On Thursday, April 11, 1968, the Seehotel am Stausee opened with 43 beds.
The number of satisfied and returning guests increased steadily, for this reason 11 more rooms were built in 1971.
A further eight rooms were opened to guests three years later, in 1974.
Our indoor pool, which is still very popular today, was built and opened in 1978, which was the first step towards becoming a wellness hotel.
In 1979 the daughter Petra Wipperfeld married her husband Anton Schinagl. Both still work in the family business. Anton Schinagl replaced Josef Wipperfeld as head chef and took over the culinary management, while Petra Schinagl gradually took over the hotel management from her mother Johanna Wipperfeld.
The children of Petra and Anton Schinagl were born in 1983 and 1987, both of whom completed training in the hotel industry and thus ensured the continued existence of the family business. Daughter Nicole Schinagl met her husband Florian Funke during her training as a hotel manager.
In 1991 there was another extension by 12 rooms. In the years that followed, it was regularly renovated and redesigned.
In 2003, the swimming pool was expanded to include a steam bath and a solarium, as well as more sunbathing area. At the same time, the swimming pool was renovated and redesigned.

2009 After several years of professional experience in other companies, daughter Nicole Schinagl works together with her partner Florian Funke in the family business.
2010 Nicole Schinagl and Florian Funke marry.
In 2012 our superior rooms were renovated and redesigned.
In 2014, Sascha Schinagl also began working in the family business after training to become a state-certified hotel manager and several years of experience in other companies.
In 2015 our panorama rooms were renovated and redesigned.
In 2016 Sascha Schinagl and Nicole Funke took over the management from their mother Petra Schinagl.
In 2017 the hotel kitchen was completely renewed, renovated and optimized. Miriam, the daughter of Nicole and Florian Funke, was also born.
In 2018, Andreas Zahn replaced Anton Schinagl as head chef.
In 2019, the hotel was expanded with a new wellness area and eight spacious, modern rooms. There is now a wellness area with over 600 square meters, pool, steam sauna, solarium, indoor and outdoor sunbathing areas, organic sauna made of pine wood, panorama sauna made of Weymouth pine, relaxation lounges, tea station and experience shower. In addition, Sascha Schinagl married his husband Phillip Schinagl in the same year.
In 2020 all classic rooms were renovated and redesigned. Phillip Schinagl started in the family business as deputy sales and front office manager. Shortly thereafter, Sascha and Phillip had their son Leandro and Nicole and Florian had their second daughter Leonie. By decision of the federal government, operations were severely restricted due to COVID-19 and even completely closed from November 2020.
In 2021 our restaurant was completely renovated and rebuilt. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19, we were not allowed to reopen until June 2nd, 2021 and welcome the first guests for this year.
A complete renovation of the economy and classic rooms with balconies is planned for 2022 and has already been commissioned. New large feel-good rooms are being created here. Our room categories will also be renamed.
The fourth generation is already secured and can continue our family tradition and family business if you want it later.
