The Story of our Family Tradition
More than 50 years ago, Mrs. Johanna Wipperfeld and her spouse Josef shared a vision:
establishing a wellness hotel for body and soul amidst idyllic surroundings.
On Thursday, 11 April 1968, Seehotel am Stausee was opened with back then 43 beds. As the number of happy guests continuously increased, eleven more rooms were added in 1971.
Only three years later, the hotel was again extended by another eight rooms. And in 1978, we finally built what our guests still love today: the indoor pool.
One year later, today’s owner of the hotel - Petra Schinagl - married her husband Anton, who today prepares culinary delicacies for you as our chef. This allowed her father Josef to finally enjoy his well-deserved retirement in 1981. In 1982, four anniversaries at once accounted for our so far biggest family celebration: silver wedding anniversary, 60th birthday, 45th professional and 25th company anniversary.
Since the 1980s, our hotel’s future has been safeguarded - with Nicole and Sascha, who by now both work at the hotel, the 3rd generation got born.
In 199, the hotel underwent the currently last extension by the addition of rooms no. 53 to 64. Since then, we have been renovating and refurbishing the building every year to offer our guests perfect accommodation. It was also for this reason that we rearranged the indoor pool to a peaceful oasis in 2003 and extended it by a steam bath, a sauna and a solarium.
We want you to enjoy your stay with us at any time because you - our appreciated guests - are most important to us. In a time of life getting increasingly faster and hectic, we want your stay to be a time of peace and well-being that allows you to forget your everyday hassle and stress.
Your hosts, the Schinagl and Funke Families
